Janice Harrington and Friends im Glockenhaus

Hansestadt - Am 24. Juni 2011 um 20.00 Uhr ist Janice Harrington im Lüneburger Glockenhaus zu Gast. Zusammen mit den Musikern Enno Dugnas (Piano), Jens Balzereit (Bass), Tommie Harris (Drums and Vocal), Jan Carstensen (Saxophone, Vocal) wird der Abend John Hammond gewidmet . Als "special invited guest" wird Ventyislav Blagoev (Trumpet, Vocal)  aus Bulgarien erwartet.

In der Ankündigung heißt es:
John Hammond, the famous producer and popularizer of American folk music (according to the liner notes of the box set), "[i]n 1938... conceived a concert at Carnegie Hall in New York City to showcase African-American music from its raw beginnings to the most current jazz. "Hammond... was one of the most influential talent scouts and record producers in history, havin "discovered" artists from Billie Holiday and Count Basie to Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen.

"From spirituals to swing" - so der Titel des Konzertabends - will die Verbindungslinien aufzeigen, die von der Musik der Schwarzen in Afrika über Gospel und Blues, Dixieland bis zum Swing führen.
